RICE GLUE – RICE STARCH POWDER
A natural powdered product obtained from rice seeds, contains amylose (16-17%) and amylopectin.
Rice starch is mainly used as an adhesive for paper and cardboard and as a thickener for acrylic or vinyl emulsions. The low amylose content enables the formation of a reversible gel.
In the renovation of paintings, it is the basis for preparing an adhesive paste for lining, replacing wheat, rye and linen flour.
Preparation of rice starch glue: Mix 1 measure of rice flour powder and 4 measures of cold water. Cook in a water bath at a temperature not exceeding 65°C for about 30 minutes until a transparent gel is obtained. Before use, strain the preparation through a sieve to remove any lumps.When added to Tylosy MH 300 P, a lighter glue is obtained while maintaining its adhesion.
